We are once again auditioning street cast for the 2022 season at the Great Lakes Medieval Faire. Join the cast and crew in recreating GLMF’s 11th century medieval village of Avoloch.

Play one of the unforgettable characters who walks their shire streets and performs for the guests.

It promises to be a year to remember!

Please prepare a 1-2 minute audition presentation for us.

This can be a monologue, a song, or a special skill.

Show them what you can do!


Rehearsals will start mid-May and be on Saturdays and/or Sundays.

Performances are July 9th-August 21st

(Saturdays and Sundays approx. 9am-8pm daily).
Exact dates and times will depend on the size of cast and number of in-house shows. You will be trained in street performance, character development, improv, dialect, stage combat basics, costuming, and MORE.
In order to be cast in a show, you need to be available for ALL performance dates.
We are happy to accommodate street cast with conflicts or limited availability (i.e. only Saturdays), you will just not be in a show.

Cape Rep Theatre will hold open auditions for the hit Broadway musical, Mamma Mia!, directed by Dani Davis, to be performed July 6 through August 14 in Cape Rep’s Outdoor Theater

Auditions are by appointment and being held on:

Saturday, March 26 from 3:30 – 6:30 pm

Sunday, March 27 from 12 – 3 pm .


About the auditions:

Please prepare two 16-bar musical selections, one of which must be a pop song. A monologue is appreciated but not required.

You may be asked to read from the script.

Please bring a headshot and resumé if you have one.

Wear appropriate clothing for movement as you may be asked to attend a dance call.

Proof of vaccination is required for all performers.

Masks are required in the lobby prior to auditioning.

Call backs may be held Sunday, March 27 at the conclusion of regular auditions.

Casting the following Roles:

John Wilkes Booth Male Tenor: F2 to G4 An intelligent and eloquent Southern actor, burning with rage. Assassinated President Abraham Lincoln on April 14th, 1865.

The Balladeer Male Tenor: C3 to G4 A young singer, who acts as not only an occasional narrator, but the voice of reason and the eyes of America throughout our story.

Sara Jane Moore Female Alto: F3 to Eb5 A former CPA and FBI agent, now unemployed. Absent-minded, energetic and from the South. Attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford in 1975.

Samuel Byck Male Baritone: D3 to G4 A loudmouthed, unstable, middle-aged man who attempted to kill President Richard M. Nixon by hijacking a commercial jetliner and crashing it into the White House on February 22nd, 1974.

Giuseppe Zangara Male Tenor: B2 to A4 A small Italian immigrant who blames the intense pains in his stomach on the United States government. Attempted to assassinate President Franklin D. Roosevelt on February 13, 1933, but instead killed Anton Cermak, mayor of Chicago.

John Hinckley Male Tenor: A2 to G4 A young and socially inept man, whose obsession with actress Jodie Foster led him to try to assassinate President Ronald Reagan on March 30th, 1981.

Charles Guiteau Male Tenor: A2 to Ab4 A boisterous minister, author and lunatic who, upon learning that he could not be Ambassador to France, assassinated President James Garfield on July 2nd, 1881.

Lee Harvey Oswald Male Baritone: G3 to C4 A young, withdrawn man who allegedly assassinated President John F. Kennedy on November 22nd, 1963.

Leon Czolgosz Male Bass-Baritone: G2 to G4 A Polish immigrant and steel worker. Methodical, deliberate and explosive. Assassinated President William McKinley in 1901.

Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme Female Soprano: A3 to G5 A deeply disturbed young girl who believes that killing the President will enable her boyfriend—Charles Manson—to make a speech at her trial. Attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford in 1975.

The Proprietor Male Baritone: Gb2 to F4 A proprietor at a carnival. Sadistic, cunning and grinning from ear to ear.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
Seeking actors, singers and singing dancers of all ethnicities.

All principal characters are African American.

EFFIE WHITE – African American Female – 18- late 20’s. Lead singer of ‘The Dreamettes’. Later she gets fired from the group when Deena gets given the lead. Headstrong, sassy, temperamental, a diva. Powerful gospel singer required with brilliant belt. Principal role.

DEENA JONES – African American Female – 18- late 20’s. Becomes the lead singer of “The Dreams.” Marries Curtis but leaves him when she finds out about his illegal activities. Wants to become an actress. Beautiful. More of a commercial pop vocal. Principal role.

LORRELL ROBINSON – African American Female – 18- late 20’s. The softer of the three “Dreams” Tries to keep the peace. Starts a relationship with Jimmy. Principal role.

CURTIS TAYLOR JR – African American Male – early 30’s. A used car salesman who talks himself into becoming ‘The Dreamettes’ Manager. Later becomes Jimmy’s Manager too. Resorts to payola, bribing DJ’s to play his clients music. Dates Effie but eventually marries Deena. Con man, forceful, a cheat, determined. Principal role.

JIMMY ‘THUNDER’ EARLY – African American Male – late 30’s. A popular RnB star who, over time, loses his fame. Married but has an affair with Lorrell. An outrageous ‘star’ performer. High energy, chaotic. Principal role.

C.C WHITE – African American Male – 18- late 20’s. Effie’s brother. A songwriter. Principal role.

MARTY – African American Male – Late 40’s-50’s. Jimmy’s Manager. Quits as Jimmy’s Manager when Curtis starts to take over. Later becomes Effie’s Manager and teaches her to rebuild her confidence. Principal role.

NON-SINGING ACTORS – African American Men – Various ages, appear in the ensemble.

Production states: “The musical stage production of Aladdin on Broadway is a spectacle adventure based on a tale that has been reimagined time and again across many cultures. We acknowledge the tremendous cultural responsibility inherent in adapting this timeless fable that is based on tales from Africa, Arabia, China, Europe, India, Persia, and Russia and beloved across generations and cultures, and our adaptation is deeply indebted to the rich and diverse tapestry that is Middle Eastern, North African and South Asian (MENASA) cultures, languages and aesthetic traditions. Jasmine – 20s, she, her; MENA; intelligent young princess with insight beyond her years and station; seeks a life beyond the confines of privilege; strong mix, and strong belt to E; ability to float in the upper mix into soprano (up to F5) and project in lowest register (down to A3); principal role.
Genie – 30s-40s, any ethnicity; quick-witted, fast-talking, ancient genie who knows all time and place; an old-school song-and-dance man; Cab Calloway, Fats Waller type, able to sing jazz; strong presence in lower range, D5 in strong falsetto, A4 in chest voice; principal role.
Babkak – 20s, any ethnicity; chubby, funny, romantic desert dweller, part of Aladdin’s band; the “Crosby” of this Arabian “Road” picture, although perhaps with a bit more flair; power tenor; (up to rock-solid high C); principal role.
Omar – 20s, any ethnicity; nervous, thin, reedy desert dweller, part of Aladdin’s band; the “Lamour;” bari-tenor, up to A4; needs a good ear for harmony and ability to blend; principal role.
Kassim – 20 to early 30s, any ethnicity; tough and street smart, desert dweller, part of Aladdin’s band; strong, smart, and bold leader of Aladdin’s group; very strong baritone, hold harmony well; (from A2 up to G4); principal role.
Sultan – 50s, MENA; kind-hearted, widowed ruler of Agrabah; gets so caught up in following the law and tradition that he overlooks his daughter Jasmine’s desires and gets swindled by his own vizier; (baritone up to E4 though sings very little in the show); principal role.
Jafar – 50s, any ethnicity, the royal vizier; amoral psychopath who’ll not hesitate to destroy anyone he perceives as a threat to his own sinister designs; good comedic ability and strong evil laugh; bass, bass-bari, can be in the style of Cyril Ritchard “speak-sing;” (G2-Eb4); principal role.
Iago – 40s, any ethnicity, Jafar’s short comedic sidekick; grovels at Jafar’s feet and has difficulty controlling his temper; strong tenor or bari-tenor up to A4; principal role.


LION KING Breakdown:

YOUNG SIMBA: He/Him. 9 – 12 years old. An African lion cub. Mufasa’s son. A lion cub that eventually becomes the King of the Pridelands. Looking for a young actor/singer with natural talent, charm, and charisma. Actor must move well and hold the stage on his own with confidence and truth. ACTOR MUST BE UNDER 58 INCHES.

YOUNG NALA: She/Her. 9 – 12 years old. An African lion cub. She eventually becomes the Queen of the Pridelands. She keeps Simba in his place. Looking for a young actor/singer with natural talent, charm, and charisma. Actor must move well and hold the stage on her own with confidence and truth. ACTOR MUST BE UNDER 58 INCHES.
