TIOBE poster.png

LVLT announces open auditions for “The Importance of Being Earnest” by Oscar Wilde

Directed by Alex B.

Show Description: Oscar Wilde’s classic screwball comedy about deliberately mistaken identities, the art of wooing, the importance of a witty quip, and the simple joy of a good muffin.

Audition Dates: In-person auditions will take place on Tuesday, November 2 & Wednesday, November 3 at 7pm.

Performance Dates: January 14 – 30, 2022 with performances on Fridays, and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm.  And one Sat matinee on 1/22 at 2pm. Rehearsals begin immediately.

ALL ROLES ARE AVAILABLE. All roles will be required to do a British dialect.

  • Gwendolyn Fairfax (female, 18-35):  Sophisticated, sharp-witted, and delightfully pretentious, she considers herself to be an expert on high society.
  • Cecily Cardew (female, 16-30): Virtuous, clever, naive, and very funny 18-year old who is wise beyond her years.
  • Lady Bracknell (female, 45+): Snobbish and overbearing mother of Gwendolyn, whose dry and cutting sarcasm dominates everyone she talks to.

Video Auditions for Spring 2022 production of Newsies-Brooksville, FL- 10/29

Screen Shot 2021-10-06 at 3.47.42 PM.png

To Audition for Live Oak Theatre: Brooksville, FL

Prepare 16 bars of a ballad as well as an up tempo musical theatre song. Please provide sheet music with chord symbols (an accompanist will be provided) or CD. Those auditioning for a role should be  prepared to read from the script or do improv and dance (wear comfortable clothes and dance shoes). *A less than 2 minute monologue is always encouraged but not required.

Another friendly piece of auditioning advice… If you are hoping to be cast in a specific role DO YOUR HOMEWORK!  Find a copy of the script and get to know the character and/or which character you would like to play.  It never hurts to research the history of the time period and the culture of said character.  Most importantly, if you are hoping to impress the Music Director it’s always a good idea to come in knowing the songs of the character you are auditioning for.
